November 6 – Music Sunday

November: Repair

“My heart is moved by all I cannot save: so much has been destroyed.

I have to cast my lot with those who age after age, perversely, with no extraordinary power, reconstitute the world.”

These words from poet Adrienne Rich are in our Singing the Living Tradition hymnal, and beg the question: with so much that has been destroyed, how do we do our part to reconstitute the world?

In keeping with the November worship theme, the service is titled Music Can Repair the World. We’ll look at the role music and dance play in our personal and communal lives – how music bolsters our spirits, how we use music in social action, how music expresses our deepest feelings about our place in the world.
