FUSN Hunger and Homelessness Task Force


Mission: Educate FUSN community and provide physical and psychological help to Massachusetts residents and families suffering from hunger and/or homelessness. Contact person: Eileen Kurkoski

Groups in Task Force:

Greater Boston Food Bank ( Ten FUSN trips per year to sort food for area pantries and soup kitchens. Eric Haas

Newton Food Pantry ( provides emergency meals to families in the Newton area. Jackie Colby

Second Step ( Transitional housing and programs in Newton for women and children survivors of domestic violence. Mary-Ann Greene

Women’s Lunch Place ( A monthly lunch bought, prepared, and served by FUSN volunteers to homeless women in Boston. Eileen Kurkoski

Habitat for Humanity ( With volunteer labor and donations of money, land and materials, Habitat Greater Boston builds or rehabilitates simple, decent houses for low-income families. Barney Freiberg-Dale

Ecclesia Ministries ( A Boston Ministry for the Homeless, where Coming of Age candidates and mentors learn and help the homeless during an overnight each year. Jamie Freed

Walk for Hunger ( Continuing a 30-year tradition, a FUSN team walks 10 miles to raise money for food pantries and soup kitchens. Lynn Holbein

Gardening Project - Planting and growing fruits and vegetables at a plot in Waltham for the Newton Food Pantry. Lois Shapiro & Paul Antonucci
