Read the Update on the DLRE Search
We are writing to update you on the search for a new director of lifespan religious education and to ask for your help and feedback as we begin the process of assessing our current, well respected religious education program. The Board of Trustees, the search committee and the RE council are not only engaged in a search for a new leader of our religious education program, but are also actively reviewing all aspects of our RE program. We are looking at how the religious education program can potentially be enhanced as our congregation grows and evolves over the next 10-15 years. We want a leader who will meet the challenges and opportunities of FUSN over that period.
We are asking for your involvement and opinions in three ways: through Listening Circles, a large congregation meeting after coffee hour on Feb. 13, and a survey that will be distributed both online and during the Jan. 23 service. The first Listening Circle will take place on Feb. 6 for parents of children in nursery through 7th grade. Check the email list serve and the society bulletin for additional dates and times.
During March, the search committee and the RE Council will be engaged in analyzing the congregation’s feedback. We will present our results and recommendations to the Board of Trustees at their May meeting and to the congregation thereafter.
Recruitment materials will be prepared and ready for the Unitarian Universalist Association’s General Assembly meeting in June, 2011. We will describe our current program and how our congregation envisions the mission of the religious education program 10-15 years ahead. We will be seeking a religious education professional whose skills and attributes best match these needs and aspirations.
The formal search and interview process will occur during the fall of 2011 and FUSN will extend an offer in early 2012. The new leader of the FUSN Lifespan Religious Education Program will start by summer of 2012.
The members of the search committee and the RE council (listed below) would love to hear your opinions. We hope to maximize involvement and participation to ensure that our future RE leader has the skills, attributes and experience to lead our program as we face the excitement, challenges and opportunities of the future.
If you have questions or opinions, we would love to hear from you.
Concetta Daurio, chair; Alan Cody, Josh Cohen, John MacGaffey, Rosie McInnis, Becka Smillie and Dede Vittori
